To Live Stream Memorial Visitation Click Here Yria Garcia Stewart, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at White’s Funeral Home, 101 N. E. 4th Ave., Mineral Wells. Yria was born on January 8, 1951 to Americo and Pura Garcia and she spent her formative years in Maryland. She graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain. In 1972, she married Michael Stewart. During their 50-year marriage, she and Michael raised two sons, Travis and Justin Stewart. In addition to being a devoted, loving mother and wife, she also contributed her intellect, knowledge and expertise in positions in the outside work world. Yria was an Attache for the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C. She spent many years working for numerous school districts in Maryland, Florida and Texas. Yria was a Defense Contract Specialist at the Pentagon, working with the Top Brass of the U. S. Military. Throughout her life, she dedicated many hours in volunteer work, such as President of the Lake Worth High School Booster Club, as a board member on the City of Lake Worth Zoning Commission, and working with public libraries in Texas and Virginia. Yria was also very creative and talented in multiple disciplines of crafts that included design and production of professional grade greeting cards and stationery, embroidery, and needlepoint. She was preceded in death by her parents, Americo and Pura Garcia. Yria is survived by her husband, Michael; sons, Travis and Justin Stewart; two granddaughters, Yria J. Stewart, and Elyana Amiya; brothers, Les Garcia and wife, Judee, Al Garcia and wife, Jennifer, and Adrian Garcia; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and uncles.
