William Ross Clayton, 89, beloved husband, father, and papa passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025, at home in Weatherford. Ross was a devoted family man, dedicated professional, and proud patriot, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and unwavering love for his family.

Funeral Service: White’s Funeral Home, Weatherford, Texas on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 10 a.m., followed by an interment at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 5600 Mineral Wells Hwy., Weatherford, Texas.
Born on August 7th, 1935, in Brownwood, Texas, Ross grew up in Comanche County. At 19, he enlisted in the United States Army, joining the 11th Airborne Division stationed in Fort Campbell Kentucky as a paratrooper. This shaped his strong character and instilled discipline and patriotism. After his honorable discharge, Ross earned multiple degrees, ending with a Master of Education from Stephen F. Austin in May 1968. Ross dedicated 30+ years to a career as a school teacher serving mostly in the Weatherford School District. His passion for helping others extended beyond the classroom. After teaching, Ross spent another 25 years in the used car business, driven by a love for working and connecting with people. Ross was a beloved figure in his neighborhood, known for his hard work and community contributions, including donations to organizations and charities such as the Methodist Church, Pythian Home, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and SPCA.
Ross was predeceased by his father, William Otis Clayton, and his mother, Iva Ross Clayton.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Imogene Glasgow; his daughter, Gayla Clayton Yale and her husband, Richard; his son, William Tracy Clayton and his wife, Tanya; grandchildren, Harrison Clayton Yale, William Brady Clayton, and Presley Jade McClain; and step-grandchildren, John Lane Lancaster, and Luke Dailey Lancaster.
Ross will be deeply missed.
