Millsap, TX

With heavy hearts, we announce the tragic and unexpected passing of Wesley Cecil Ruybal, 70, of Millsap, Texas, on April 30, 2026.

Born on May 29, 1955, Wesley was a man of deep faith, strong convictions, and a true cowboy spirit. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1974 to 1976, earning an honorable discharge and the Good Conduct Medal while serving as a Power Pack Specialist and Generator Equipment Operator with the 85th Combat Support Hospital at Fort Lee, Virginia.

Following his military service, Wesley dedicated nearly 40 years to the electrical power industry as a journeyman lineman. He began his career in 1981 with Texas Power & Light in Dallas, Texas, and retired in 2020 from Arizona Public Service. His work reflected his strong work ethic, mechanical skill, resilience, and dedication to serving others.

Wesley loved the simple and meaningful things in life — playing his mandolin, writing poetry, working leather in his saddle shop, riding his mules, and sharing stories with family and friends. Wesley found joy in the life God gave him. Above all else, he loved the Lord and never missed an opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those around him. He will be remembered for his strength, humor, wisdom, resilience, and unwavering faith.

Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Velma Ruybal of Delta, Colorado; and his siblings Sam Ruybal, Elma Carrera, Robert Ruybal, Alexander Ruybal, and George Ruybal.

He is survived by his beloved wife and the love of his life, Kim Echols of Millsap, Texas; His daughters, Athea Ruybal of Gatesville, Texas, and Eryn Rapp (Jon) of Ogallala, Nebraska; and his son, Joshua Boyd Nichols-Ruybal of Fruita, Colorado.

He is also survived by his brother Roger Ruybal (Joyce) of Kansas City, Missouri; sister Ty Johnson (Kregg) of Orem, Utah; brother Larry Ruybal (Jeanie) of Lafayette, Colorado; sister Willie Sandoval (Moses) of Brighton, Colorado; and sister Valarie Whittaker (Earl) of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Wesley leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Koddee Landon of Montrose, Colorado; Hollianna Tassin of Gatesville, Texas; Robert McKinion III of Gisela, Arizona; Bryson Tassin of El Paso, Texas; Peyton Rapp and Haidyn Rapp of Ogallala, Nebraska; Riley Chesney (Christian) of San Mateo, Florida; Piper Nichols; Quinn Nichols; Hudson Westley Sawyer Nichols; and Westen Hunter Boyd Nichols of Bunnell, Florida. He was also blessed with great-grandsons Brody James Chesney and Cash Thomas Joshua Chesney of San Mateo, Florida, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, faith, humor, and friendship.

In honoring Wesley’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, we invite all family, friends, and those who knew and loved Wesley to join us for a lunch and fellowship celebrating his life on May 30, 2026, at the Millsap Community Center in Millsap, Texas, at 11:30 a.m.
