Wayne Warren Russell, 66, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, after a valiant fight for recovery following a sudden cardiac arrest on May 5, 2026.

Wayne was born on June 26, 1959, to Charles and Patricia (Stuckey) Russell in San Antonio, Texas. Raised in Dallas, he graduated from Duncanville High School and was an alumni of the University of Alabama. He married his high school sweetheart, Darcy (Lemon) in 1979. They built a life centered on faith and family raising three daughters together. They were married for 46 years. During the course of his lifetime, Wayne had many careers. After he retired from UPS, he worked in the men’s clothing business, magazine publishing industry, and retired once more from headhunting and recruiting. Additionally, he was a successful stock trader and investor. Thirsty for knowledge, Wayne was an autodidact who had unwavering faith in the Lord, was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church in America, and an avid supporter of Christian ministries. In addition to his interests in Christian theology and investing, Wayne was a whiskey connoisseur, dog lover, and avid sports fan. He was devoted to the Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks, and, of course, Bama “Roll Tide!”

A gifted conversationalist, he never met a stranger he didn’t long to know. Becoming a grandfather at 47, Wayne took great pride in his grandsons, whom he loved to mentor and encourage. Playful wrestling matches with “Poppy” will be treasured memories.

Wayne was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Shelby (Spencer) in 2024.

He is survived by his parents, Charles and Patricia Russell; his two brothers, Chuck and Tim; his two daughters, Ashley (McAninch), and Chelsey (Ghassemi); and his five grandchildren, Preston, Tate, Kaitlyn, Jett, and Emma.
