Verna Magdalene O’Neal, 104 Years, 6 months and 22 days passed away Friday, October 21, 2022 in Weatherford. Visitation: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at North Main Church of God, 803 North Main St., Weatherford. Service: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at North Main Church of God. Burial at East Greenwood Cemetery following the service. Verna was born March 29, 1918 in Bonham to William Vanhook Henry and Sarah Eugenia (Hornsby) Henry. She was a longtime member of the Church of God. Verna and her husband Tommie planted and pastored 27 churches with the Church of God during their 50 plus years of marriage. She sacrificed much in the way of worldly comforts for the benefit of those she served. Verna and her guitar, along with Tommie, and Zoe Brown comprised The Lone Star Trio, that blessed many decades of Texas Church of God Camp Meeting services with gospel songs, the favorite of which was “I Found A Hiding Place”. Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie O’Neal; her siblings, Ola Pearl Bullard, Ella Crofford, Lorene Duvall, Irene Smith, Opal Rolan, Joie Craddick, Jimmie Henry, Troy Henry and Linnie Henry. She was also preceded in death by many dear friends including, Rowena Collins and Virginia Wells. Survivors include numerous extended family members, including nieces and nephews, who will miss her sweet smile. Verna's family would also like to offer their sincere thanks to Holland Lake Nursing Center Staff and Alpha Omega Hospice for their loving care of Aunt Verna.
