Velma Nell Wonner

Velma Nell (Ash) Wonner went to be with Jesus Saturday, August 1, 2026.

She was born April 15, 1964 in White Settlement, Texas to Bobbie Maxine (Forbes) and Roy Lee Ash. Her childhood was spent in Ft. Worth and Amarillo, Texas and her family moved to Mineral Wells when she was 12 years old. She married the love of her life, Donald Ray Wonner in Mineral Wells on October 6, 1979. They were together for 47 years.

She held various jobs in Mineral Wells and Weatherford such as Phillips Electronics, SFX Inc., Fairris Construction, and other secretarial and office jobs.

Velma fought a long battle with cancer and to all of those she loved she was an inspiration through her endurance, compassion and grace in light of her circumstances. She had a heart for God and it reflected the way she treated others.

Velma was a free spirit who loved her family and friends with all her heart. Her family included several pets during her lifetime. She lost her Dusty a few years before her passing.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents, Bobbie and Roy Ash; and her in-laws, Linda and Al Molinaro.

Survivors: Husband, Donnie and her fur baby, Mandy; sisters, Faye Darwin and her husband, Raymond of Amarillo, Cathy Burdette and her husband, Bob of Amarillo, Cindy Reed and her husband, Mike of Amarillo, and Vivian McLain and her husband, Tommy of Amarillo; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Denise Wright and her husband, Roy Lee of Abilene,  Sandra Snyder and her husband, Robert of Millsap, Larry Wonner and his wife, Mary of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Scott Molinaro and his wife, Robin of Clyde; tag-a-long sisters, Kay Fletcher of Odessa, Cathy Jo Burns of Mineral Wells, and Paula Long of Brownwood; and many nieces, nephews and life-long friends.
