Tony Jack Maples

Tony Jack Maples, 87, of Weatherford, Texas passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus while at home on Saturday, June 13, 2026, surrounded by family.

Tony was born October 12, 1938 to William Chester and Laura Carter Maples in Pampa, Texas. He attended Wayland Baptist University on a choir scholarship before deciding to enlist in the United States Navy. He attended sonar school and was stationed aboard the USS Cook before being Honorably discharged in May 1959. Tony had many interests before deciding on a successful career in the car business. He retired in 2002 as General Manager of Tom Benson Chevrolet in San Antonio, Texas. After retirement he stayed busy by founding Pilot Home Builders, Inc. and built several homes in and around the Weatherford area. He also kept busy by raising and selling Beefmaster Cattle with Maples Farm and Ranch, Inc., along with his son-in-law, Doug Ashbrook. He was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church in Mineral Wells, Texas. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Lyn Maples Porter; and his beloved sister, Carolyn Joyce Maples Ruegger.

Tony is survived by his wife of 49 years, Louise Ann Maples; his son, Thomas Craig Maples and wife, Linda; his daughter, Stacy Geneva Maples Ashbrook and husband, Doug; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his best friend in life, Bobby Dorn and wife, Paula.

If you wish to honor Tony’s memory, please made donations to Fairview Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1062 Fairview Road, Mineral Wells, TX 76087. His desire was to see the new Family Life Center at Fairview completed, but God had other plans for His good and faithful servant.

A celebration of Life will be planned for a future date.
