Tony was born on April 3, 1958 in Weatherford to Gene and Ruby (McCracken) Davis. He lived all but the first three years of his life on the family farm in the Lambert community, west of Weatherford. Tony attended grades 1-12 and graduated in 1976 from Millsap High School. After graduation, Tony began work at Dunnaway Ford as a mechanic and later at Bobby Blanton Trucking. It was at this time, at the age of 19, on December 23, 1977, that he was involved in a terrible auto accident and immediately became a quadriplegic. He never lost his love for life.
Even at a young age, Tony could work on and fix almost anything with an engine. He had a passion for classic cars, helicopters and guns. He would sit outside as a child and watch the flight maneuvers of the Fort Wolters helicopters and dream of one day getting to fly them. Even though he could no longer use his hands, he could talk his brothers or nephews through repairing or restoring his beloved classic cars or anything else that needed fixing on the farm.
Thanks to the never-ending devotion, love and care of his mother, Tony was able to live another 47 years out at the homeplace. He is now free of any and all limitations. He is free to fly.
Tony is preceded in death by his father, Gene L. Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Ruby Davis; brothers Gaylon (Deiann) Davis, and Rickey Davis; and sister, Lawonna (Carroll) Dawson; nephews, Bryan and Brad Dawson, Clayton and Casey Davis, Kyle and Kolton Davis, and Kasey Pritchard; nieces, Amber Hartwell Henry, Heather Abernathie, Whitney Davis, and Kaylei Tindal; six great-nephews; and six great-nieces.
Special thanks to Ellen Gulley, Cheryl Schellin, Suzanne Carter, and the team at Right at Home, for taking such wonderful care of Tony.
