Thomas Lee “Tom” Brunner, 86, left this world to be with the Lord on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Brookdale Senior Living facility in Weatherford, TX. He was born October 25, 1937 in Springfield, IL, son of George and Ruth (Coons) Brunner. Tom grew up in Springfield, Illinois, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, attended Western Illinois University, and worked his entire career for Illinois Bell. Tom met the love of his life, Muriel, and they were united in marriage December 31, 1970. They spent 46 happy years together until her passing in 2016. In 1994, he and Muriel moved from Springfield, Ill. to Shell Knob, Mo. to build their log home, from the ground up. In his and Muriel’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling across the country, volunteering as National Park camp hosts, and spending time with loved ones. Following Muriel’s passing, Tom moved to Weatherford in 2021 to be closer to family. Some of his favorite pastimes were wood working, RVing, cooking in the Summer Kitchen, motorcycle trips, gardening, splitting wood, fishing, boating, and spending time with friends & family. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Muriel Brunner; sister, Linda Morrow, wife to Randy Morrow, of Kimberling City, Missouri; and son, Kurt Brunner. Survivors include his three sons, Kent Myers and his wife, Marcia, of Edgerton, Kansas, Marc Brunner and his wife, Renee, of Clarksville, Tennessee, and John Brunner and his wife, Taylor, of Brock, Texas; two daughters, Julie Maxheimer and her husband, Max, of Springfield, Illinois, and Betsy Carter and her husband, David, of Toledo, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Alex, Taylor, Kenley, John, Jordan, John, Rian, Lydia, Joseph, Caelan, and Mallory; and one great-grandchild, Nash.
