Weatherford – The Reverend George Woody Broome, Sr. went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 17, 2021. Funeral: 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the North Main Church of God, Weatherford. Burial: Memory Gardens of the Valley. Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday at White’s Funeral Home, Weatherford. Reverend Broome was born on November 26, 1921, in Albany, GA. He was called into the ministry of our Lord at the age of 17 years and enjoyed 82 years of ministry with the Church of God of Cleveland, TN. During his tenure with the Church of God, he held various positions including: Dean of Northeast Bible school, Overseer, Evangelism Director, Pastor and Evangelist. He was a member of the North Main Church of God at the time of his passing. Reverend Broome enjoyed a long and fruitful life and left his earthly home due to natural causes. He will be missed by family, friends, and colleagues. Reverend Broome is preceded in death by his wife, Ora Vee Rhoden-Broome; daughter, Dorita Kay Broome; and sons, George Woody Broome, Jr. and LeRoy Norris Broome. Survivors: Granddaughter, Cheryl Ann Broome-Garcia; grandsons, Timothy Eugene Broome, Michael Wayne Broome, and John Edward Broome; 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren.
