While growing up, Tenny was very active in his church youth group and participated in many sports. Tenny graduated from Justin S. Kimball High School in 1974 and went on to graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington, with a degree in Physical Education. At that time, he thought he wanted to be a high school coach, but after doing his student teaching, decided to take a different route and entered the world of graphic arts. He was a loyal and staunch Longhorn supporter no matter what kind of season they had and tried to attend at least one home game a year with his son Bobby Brent. Tenny’s professional years found him working for many different marketing companies but typically on one main account. Tenny managed the Tyson Foods account for over 30 years as a CSR. Those professional years proved invaluable in forming many lasting life long friendships between him and his co-workers. Tenny was able to retire on December 31, 2021 and stepped into that new role like a champ! After taking a few months off to adjust to retirement, he worked part-time at the Azle Golf Course as a Marshall. At the same time, he found a group of like minded folks to play golf with a couple of days a week and they always had a blast. Later, when he decided that he had more hours to fill, he began working part time with White’s Funeral Home. When asked about his position there, he described it as a “glorified flower girl”. He loved every minute of his time with the funeral industry, again, making many friends and considering his work there a ministry to grieving folks. Tenny lived most of his life in Texas, but in 2012, was given the opportunity to transfer to Northwest Arkansas. Because his son had planned to attend college there, he jumped at this chance. The move proved to be a good one both professionally and personally because it was there that he met his future wife, Becky. After dating for 2 years, they were married on November 22, 2014 in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Marrying Becky brought a whole new dimension to his life.....grandchildren! Tenny stepped into that role happily and was the best Papa ever to those littles that loved him so. His lap was always big enough to hold whoever wanted to be there reading a book, singing or having a tea party. Career opportunity came again in 2019 when Tenny was offered a chance to relocate back to the DFW area. Once again, he jumped at it and was happy to get back to Texas. He and Becky built their new home in Azle, Texas and began to live as Texans again. Tenny was known and loved by so many friends and family. We feel that he has left us much too soon but he loved the Lord and as believers, we have a promise that we will see him again. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Polly Jones and brother, Bobby Bruce Jones. He is survived by his wife, Becky of the home; son, Bobby Brent Jones and wife, Forenn of Haslet, Texas; step-son, Timothy King and wife, Sarah, of Leander, Texas; step-daughter, Meagan King of Argyle, Texas; sisters, Ki Edwards, of Dallas, Texas; Lynn Cabeen and husband, Tim, of Red Oak, Texas; Faye Sanders and husband, Craig, of Las Vegas, Nevada; 6 grandchildren, Cora Jones, Ethan Hussain, Hayden King, Parker King, Ashner Hussain and Rori Hussain; as well as a host of loving family and friends.
