Sue Brown

Glenda Sue Crowder Brown, 81, went to meet her Lord and Savior on August 11, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Sue was born on New Years Eve in 1944 in Nashville, Tennessee, to Fred Olson Crowder and Stella Ruth Felts Crowder. She was raised in the Nashville area before moving to Fort Worth at the age of 16, where she graduated from Paschal High School.

During high school, Sue met her husband at church in Fort Worth, and they were married on June 20, 1963. In 1974, they moved to Aledo, where they raised their three children and built a life together.

Sue stayed home with her children until they were all in school, then found work at their school so she could remain close to them. She drove a school bus and worked as a special education aide before later becoming an office manager for medical offices.

Sue was also a wonderful grandmother who had a deep personal connection with all her grandchildren. So much so that each one would say they are her favorite. Sue loved her family deeply and was proud of the faith and character she saw in her children and grandchildren. She was known for her positive personality and genuine love for people. She enjoyed playing pranks and was always ready to tell an outlandish story just to get a reaction from her friends and family.

Her faith was at the center of everything she did. Sue was a true prayer warrior who spent years studying her Bible, teaching Sunday School, praying for others, and helping people through their difficult circumstances. She taught a ladies’ Sunday School class at her church for many years and often took on the burdens of others, helping them navigate whatever challenges they faced. She was passionate about leading people to Christ and sharing God’s love with everyone she encountered.

Sue was tough, determined, and tenacious, yet she was also humble, sweet-spirited, and compassionate. She had a way of pouring love into whatever situation she encountered. She was someone people could come to for the truth and even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear, you would leave feeling encouraged. She was honest and authentic, never one to complain, and she faced difficult times with faith and a positive spirit. She trusted God with her life and believed that any accomplishment of hers was simply Christ working through her.

Sue was a longtime member of Church at the Crossing in Aledo, where she served in many ways, working as a secretary for many years. She handled the church’s books and business affairs while also counseling, mentoring, and caring for the people around her. Her home was always welcoming, and she opened it to many people in need, from exchange students to those who simply needed a place to stay and someone to show them God’s love.

Sue loved taking trips with her friends and making memories along the way. She was selfless, hospitable, and always willing to help others. Even near the end of her life, she continued praying for and ministering to the people in her life.

Sue leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, humor, service, and a life devoted to helping others. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church family, and the many people whose lives she touched.

Sue is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bobby Ray Brown; her parents; her sister Freda Burnette; and brothers, Roger Crowder, and Randy Crowder.

She is survived by her sons; Jon Bob Brown and wife Elizabeth, and Jimmy Don Brown and wife Vickie; her daughter, Paula St. John and husband Tim; her grandchildren, Zachary Brown and wife Shannon, Madeline Brown, Hannah Brown, Alana Grupe and husband Curtis, Will Brown, Justin Horn, Tom Brown, Savannah Jacobs and husband Ryan, Timothy St. John, Jacob St. John, Jocelyn St. John; great-grandchildren, Carter Grupe, and soon to be born Hadley Jacobs, as well as many extended family members and friends.
