August 23, 1954 — February 22, 2024

Stanley Rex Terry, 69, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024, in Azle, Texas. Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at White’s Funeral Home Chapel in Springtown, Texas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at White’s Funeral Home Chapel in Springtown, Texas. Interment: February 28, 2024 at Goshen Cemetery in Springtown, Texas. Stanley Rex Terry was born August 23, 1954 in Bowie, Tx. to Raymond Terry and Elsina Pittman Terry. Everyone knew him by the name Rex! Growing up in Bowie, he loved playing sports with his brothers. One of his favorite childhood memories was traveling to Colorado with his family. He worked numerous jobs in the oilfield until he started his aerospace career in 1986. Rex met Linda in February of 1994 in Fort Worth, Tx. They spent their weekends (when it wasn’t deer season) at local dance halls, dancing the night away. They loved to dance and spend time with family and friends while doing so. In January of 1995, they moved to Weatherford, Tx., had a son, Clay, and started their life together. Rex was an avid hunter and fisherman. It wasn’t a hobby to him, just simply a way of life. He passed on this way of life to his son, T.J. Rex and T.J.’s favorite pastime always revolved around hunting or fishing. They were always gone somewhere finding out who could kill the biggest buck or catch the biggest fish. It was always a competition in everything he did. He loved to play softball with his buddies. He loved all sports and always kept up with his favorite teams. He was a golfer and hit the course often. He loved to play golf with Clay, but after a day of golf it seemed they did more drinking than golfing. He loved to gamble and played the slots at numerous casinos. Clay would go with him on many occasions to make sure he didn’t lose all his money all by himself. Rex never met a stranger, always making a friend everywhere he went. He retired from Lockheed Martin, taking with him many lifelong friendships, friends that stuck by his side until the day he died. His wife of 28 years, Linda, battled cancer the last 12 years of her life, and unfortunately lost that battle in 2022. Her passing left him devastated and alone. He stayed strong for his family and moved on with his new life the best he knew how. November 2023 he got the news he had lung cancer. The doctor said it was slow growing and the survival rate was high. They treated the cancer with chemo and radiation. They hit it hard and fast and his body just couldn’t handle it. Cancer didn’t take his life, the treatment and the stress that came with it was just too much for his body to handle. Rex will be extremely missed by everyone that knew him. He impacted the lives of the ones around him in so many ways. We find comfort in Rex and Linda being back together again, sitting on the front porch. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Linda Terry, his brother, Bo Terry and numerous family and friends. Rex is survived by his sons, T.J. Shockler and Clay Terry; his daughters, Crystal, Kim, Jennifer and Ashley; his daughters-in-law, Christina and Cherry; his son-in-law, James Kirby; his brothers, Jim Terry, Mickey Terry, and Bobby Terry and thirteen grandkids and two great-grandkids he cherished so much!
