Sherry was born on October 4, 1938, in Glendale, California. She grew up in California, where her mother owned a Beauty Shop and her father owned a Barber shop right next door to each other. After High School, she moved to Abilene, Texas to attend Abilene Christian College. There she met her future husband, Blane Brawley, and they married in 1957. They had two children, then moved to Weatherford to raise their family.

Sherry taught Special Education for many years for Weatherford ISD. She was also a long-time member of the Parker County Retired Teachers Association. She retired from teaching in 2002. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling with her sisters-in-law, crocheting, spending time with her friends, and attending the events that her grandchildren, and great-grandsons were involved in. Sherry loved Christmas, especially collecting and gifting Hallmark Christmas ornaments.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the wonderful staff and care givers at Martin Crest Assisted Living & Memory Care, where Sherry lived the last few years of her life. Also, a very special thank you to her hospice Nurse Tammi.

Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Blane Brawley; parents, Jack and Anita Batey; brother, Larry Batey; and furry companion, Shaggy.

Sherry is survived by her daughter, Shelley Brawley Smith, of Weatherford; son, David Brawley, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; five grandchildren and nine great-grandsons, Matthew and Megan Smith, Hudson, Rylan, and Ellis, of Roanoke, Michelle and Paul Blankenship, and Maddox, of Weatherford, Jamie and Billy Szkodzinski, Cameron, Connor, and Corbin, of South Lyon, Michigan, Hayley and Nick Klimek, Jayden, and Brady, of Holly Ridge, North Carolina, and Daniel Brawley of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She also had many nieces and nephews.

Nanny, we love you!
