Sharon Elizabeth Smith

Sharon Elizabeth (Byrnes) Smith, 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024 at her home in Weatherford.

Visitation: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024 in White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford, with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2024 at Saint Stephen Catholic Chapel, 211 South Main St., Weatherford.

Interment: East Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford.

Sharon was born January 26, 1948 in Weatherford, daughter of Leo and Martha Elizabeth (Hoech) Byrnes. 

She worked for over 28 years as a wallpaper hanger in Weatherford.   Sharon had a keen eye for decorating, and loved anything with unique patterns and bright colors. She will be remembered as the best in the business.

Sharon enjoyed baking, trips to the casino, and painting ceramics. Of all of the things that she enjoyed in life, her first love was her family, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. Traveling was an enjoyment, whether to games or trips to relax and make memories, she never missed the opportunity to be at everything when it came to her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Michael Byrnes.

Sharon is survived by her son, Brad Bernhardt; daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Wheeling (Tom); grandchildren, Mandy Mendenhall (Colt Hoover), Morgan Murphy (Davis), Jacob Wheeling, Austin Wheeling, and Hannah Wheeling; great-grandchildren, Paislea Kana, and Harper Murphy; brothers, Don Byrnes and David Byrnes; sisters, Pat Springfield, Sandy Pickering, and Susan Murray; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.
