Samuel "Buddy" Marson Deel

July 13, 1937 — October 16, 2022

Samuel Marson “Buddy” Deel, 85, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022 in Weatherford. Rosary: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Saint Stephen Catholic Church, 1802 Bethel Road, Weatherford. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Saint Stephen Catholic Church. Interment: Willow Springs Cemetery, Parker County. Buddy was not a suit-and-tie type person (unless he was made to wear one), so feel free to attend in casual attire! In lieu of gifts and flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Saint Stephen’s Pallottine Building Fund, Saint Stephen Catholic Church, 1802 Bethel Road, Weatherford, TX 76086, or the charity of your choice. Buddy was born July 13, 1937 in Parker County, son of Walter Giles Deel and Angie Viola (Stults) Mikus. He graduated from Aledo High School in 1955. Buddy then joined the United States Navy and was stationed out of San Diego, California, and Kwajalein Island where he served with the Construction Battalion. After an Honorable Discharge, he moved back to his home in Weatherford and worked at Mongomery Wards in Fort Worth where he met and married his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Rickard. Buddy was later employed at General Dynamics and Bell Helicopter where he worked as a machinist. His experience and love of children inspired him to be a coach for his son’s little league teams in Aledo, and to pursue a teaching career with the Fort Worth ISD where he taught Machine Shop at Trimble Tech High School until his retirement. Buddy was an active member of Saint Stephen Catholic Church in Weatherford where he taught religious education and sponsored the High School Catholic Youth Group (CYO) for 18 years. Buddy loved his family more than life itself and spent many hours of his retirement years helping to take care of his grandchildren who meant the world to him. He never met a stranger and always reached out to help anyone in need. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter Lee Deel; step-brothers, Bobby Deel, and Bobby Mikus; and half-sister, Mildred Curry. Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn Deel; sons, William Anthony Deel, and James Michael Deel; grandchildren, Ivy Drew Deel, and Ian Samuel Deel; grand-dog, Amy; sister, Barbara Bierschenk and husband, Lawrence; niece, Sharmayne Bierschenk; nephews, Ronnie Deel, and Randy Deel and wife, Kathy, and Randy’s son, Dustin Deel; half-brothers, Walter Eugene Deel, and James Deel; and step-sister, Barbara Ann Schmid; and a host of other family members and dear friends.
