Ruth Roberts Plumlee

Myrtle Ruth Roberts Plumlee, 96, of Weatherford, Texas, went into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at North Side Baptist Church, 910 North Main Street, Weatherford, with visitation prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at East Greenwood Cemetery, 500 East Front St., Weatherford.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to the North Side Baptist Church God’s Abundance campaign.

Best known as Ruth, Mother, and Nana, she was born the youngest of nine children on June 17, 1929, to Alec B. and Josie McCreary in Garner, Texas.

Ruth was best known for her fun and feisty personality, sweet smile, and the gleam in her eyes. She was an avid homemaker, loved to cook, sew, and decorate and redecorate her home. Family members never knew where the furniture would be each day as they returned home!

Ruth was a Christian and lifelong member of North Side Baptist Church where she enjoyed being a greeter and taught Sunday School for many years. She even filled in for her Bible Study leader at the nursing home she was at for a short time. More than anything, she loved being Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they all loved to go to her house to play knowing she would always have something new in her playroom and popsicles in the freezer just for them.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; four sisters; first husband, Bill Roberts; second husband, G. L. Plumlee, Jr.; and stepdaughter, Jan Sides.

She is survived by her four children, Ron Roberts of Bastrop, Texas, Dierdre McLaughlin and husband, Neal, of Weatherford, Debby Riebe and husband, Mark, of Weatherford, and Donna Hendrix and husband, Robert, of Stephenville, Texas; stepdaughter, Patricia Brewster of Burnet; and stepson, G. L. Plumlee, III and wife, Debra, of Eagle Point, Oregon. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses and administrators at Brookdale Weatherford and Holland Lake Rehab and Nursing for taking such loving care of their mother. A special thanks to Liz and Angie with Beyond Faith Hospice for their loving care in her final days.
