Ruby Nell Jones

Ruby Nell Jones was born on March 24, 1929, in Scranton, Texas. She was the oldest of four children born to John and Monte Trimble. A bright and determined young woman, Ruby graduated as the valedictorian of her senior class.

On September 5, 1947, Ruby married the love of her life, Aaron Jones. Together, they built a strong and loving family, raising two children, Peggy Ann and Joel Ray. Ruby and Aaron shared many joyful years together, especially enjoying square dancing in the 1980s, and family hunting trips with friends.

Through many moves, Ruby and Aaron had a special gift for connecting with people wherever they went. Along the way, they formed countless friendships, many of which grew into lifelong bonds. These dear friends became like extended family, and together they shared many cherished memories, including vacations.

Ruby had a true passion for quilting with her specialty being in appliqué. She was an active member of several quilt clubs, where she shared her talent and love for the craft with others.

A devoted woman of faith, Ruby was a member of Patillo Baptist Church and faithfully served the Lord throughout her life.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Peggy Jones-Nichols (Butch); her son, Joel Jones (Kim); her twin granddaughters, Jenae Mattingly (Robbie), and Jennifer Washburn (Kendall); her great-grandchildren, Emily Washburn (Zane), Macie Mattingly, and Creed Mattingly; and her great-great-grandson, Colter Beam.

Graveside services will be held at Bosley Cemetery (south) in Santo, Texas on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
