We, the family and friends of Robert Placido, mourn his passing on March 11, 2021, with the deepest of sorrow. Celebration of his Life will be held at his home at 2 PM on his birthday, March 25. He was born March 25, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan; he was a man of the utmost integrity, loyalty, and honesty. Robert was an executive at the Dayton Hudson/Target Corp. in Minneapolis for 25 years. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, the Jaycees of Roseville Michigan, and at the Bass Hall in Fort Worth. He gave of himself in many other ways with his time, money, and skills. He was a member of the Mariners Sailing Group, the Tuesday Night Dinner Group, and the Wood Turners of North Texas. Friends and family cherished his many gifts of the wood bowls and other works of art he created. Robert loved a challenge and was an athlete who excelled in many sports (racquetball, windsurfing, golf, and pickleball) but his claim to fame was his daily TV appearance in the ’60s on Detroit Bandstand as a regular, known as “Rudy”. He was well known as a great dancer. When he was a teenager he bought his Mother a car so she could run her errands, an example of his generous spirit. His skill at shooting pool earned the money for that car. He was preceded in death by his father, Clement Placido, and his mother, Mildred (née White). He was very much loved by his children, daughter, Dawn Fitzsimmons and her husband, Steve, son, Robert and his wife, Laurel; his former wife, Carol; grandchildren, Kyle, Trevor, Karlie, Kira, Torin, and Keelin will remember him as a devoted Grandpa; sister, Norma and her husband, Jim Simpson; his brother, Jim Placido and his wife, Martha, as well as his many nieces, nephews, and cousins will feel his loss; His loved companion, Terry Austin, and her family will miss him and forever have fond memories of their times together We will miss him, forever keeping him alive with the many memories in our hearts.
