Robert Lee Johnson

Robert (Bob) Lee Johnson passed away peacefully in his home on August 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 25, 1944, at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, Texas. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Bob leaves behind a legacy defined by profound kindness, honesty, and generosity.

In 1963, Bob began working for Mapp Tank Company in Odessa, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Linda Bullard. They were married in Hamilton, Texas, in 1964, and welcomed their first daughter, Traci, in 1966. Bob later transitioned to the National Tank Company, and in 1968, their second daughter, Shelly, completed their family.

Later that year, Bob’s career took him to Lone Camp to help build a plant for Southwestern Gas. His unmatched work ethic was quickly recognized, prompting a relocation to Mineral Wells. Though he started at the Mineral Wells plant as a handyman, his dedication led to a promotion to plant operator, and he eventually became a field compressor mechanic—a role he held faithfully until his retirement in 1998. Never one to stay idle, retirement saw him keeping busy mowing lawns and acting as the official, trusted maintenance man for Hickey’s Dairy Queen.

When Bob and Linda arrived in Mineral Wells 58 years ago with two young daughters and few belongings, they did not know a soul. However, they were greeted with open arms by a welcoming community and immediately knew they had found their forever home. In 1969, they purchased three acres of land. It was there that Bob truly thrived, putting to use the skills he learned as a young boy growing up in the country working alongside his father and uncles in Priddy, Texas. He built their family home with his own hands, tended to a bountiful garden and fruit trees, and raised cows, pigs, goats, and chickens.

Bob remained a simple man at heart and a true jack-of-all-trades who could fix anything. The invaluable knowledge and practical life lessons he passed down—the kind that cannot be found in books—will live on through his children, grandchildren, and the countless young lives he touched. He was a gentle, quiet man who truly never had an enemy. Even near the end, as he faced a terminal diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia, he never once complained. He remained completely kind and gracious, always striving to never be a burden or a bother.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Cora (Ryan) Seider; his father, Charlie Albert Seider; his sisters, Betty Lorraine DeBusk and Sandra Kay Colcleasure; and his nephew, Darren Lee DeBusk, all of Comanche, Texas. He was also preceded in death by his nephew, Jeremy Bader; his nieces, Krystal Gray and Nicki Hudgens; his sisters-in-law, Terri Jensen Bader and Donna Hudgens, all of Odessa, Texas; and most recently, his beloved son-in-law, Sam Hickey of Mineral Wells, Texas.

His gentle spirit lives on in his surviving family. Bob is survived by Linda Bullard Johnson, his devoted wife of 62 years; his daughters, Traci Thomas and her husband Bill, and Shelly Hickey, all of Mineral Wells; his brother, Charlie Seider and wife Sharon of Comanche; his sister, Brenda Boucher and husband Tom of Lubbock; his brothers-in-law, Steve Hudgens and Don Bader, and sister-in-law, Tammie Gray, all of Odessa; and his brother-in-law, Terry Bader and wife Karen of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

He was the proud grandfather of Taylor Hickey, Dalton Hickey (Brandy), Samantha Hickey (Alan), and Charlee Hickey (Mac), all of Mineral Wells, Kelci Singleton (Samuel) of Weatherford, Bailey Thomas (Dre) of Temple, and Ty Thomas (Alicia) of Coaldale, Canada. He also leaves behind his cherished great-grandchildren: Kashtyn Lee Hickey, Samuel Cason Hickey, Brentley Jones, Remi Simpson, Carter Simpson, Bo Singleton, and Lainey Singleton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly.

His loving wife, Linda, along with their daughters, beautifully cared for him at home until the very end, supported by Gentiva Hospice and Lori Gossett, FNP-C. The family wishes to extend a special, heartfelt thank you to Summer, Andi, Kaylee, Nicki, Jessica A., and Jessica C. for their extraordinary kindness and dedicated care. They also share deep gratitude for his sons-in-law, Sam and Bill, for ensuring his dignity was always honored, and to Amy Jones for her unwavering love and continued support during this difficult time.
