To Live Stream Service Click Here Robert Joseph "Bob" Hanson, 88, passed away peacefully on September 6th, 2023 at Willow Park Nursing home in Willow Park, Texas. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2023 in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Interment: 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Holly Hills Memorial Park, Granbury. Bob was born on July 19th, 1935 at his Grandparents' farm in Midland, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marie (Dhaenens) Hanson, and his brothers, Percy and Floyd, and his sisters, Hazel (Schwalm) and Shirley. He is survived by; his sister, Rose Marrington, Pierre, SD his brother Don Hanson, Billings, MT. His wife, Joanne Hanson. his daughters, Anna (Hanson) Marchi and husband, Mike, Linda (Hanson) Dean, and husband Roy. His son, Tom Hanson, and wife Bunny. His stepdaughter, Michelle Coleman, and husband Ron, his 6 grandchildren, Christine, Stephen, Michael, Josh, Rachel, and Danielle, his 6 great-grandchildren, Alayna, Khloe, Cooper, Brayden, Zowie, and Atlas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob attended Pleasant View Rural School and graduated from Midland High School in 1954. After high school, he helped his folks on the farm before going to work for the Chicago NW Railroad for 3 years. He then worked for the State of South Dakota Highway Dept. from 1957-1968. On a family trip to see the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle, Bob fell in love with the Puget Sound and Pacific Northwest. In 1968 while vacationing again in Washington, he applied for and accepted a position at Scott's Studebaker and Toyota in Seattle. Bob worked at the same Toyota dealership for 22 years, where he was known as "Doctor Toyota". In 1990 Bob transferred to Rodland Toyota in Everett, and worked there until he retired in 2003. Bob and Joanne lived in Mt. Lake Terrace for many years before moving to rural Snohomish in 1999, to a home on 5 wooded acres where they spent their golden years fixing up the property and gardening. Bob was often seen on his tractor or riding lawnmower, carving paths through the woods, chopping wood, completing home projects, or tinkering away in his shop. When they weren't busy gardening or working, he and Joanne would relax together on the patio and watch the wildlife in their Pacific Northwest Oasis. Together they enjoyed most sports, and followed all the local teams, both professional and college, but most of all they were avid baseball fans, they listened and watched almost every Mariner game and had season tickets for many years. Country music was always playing in the background of their lives and they attended many concerts together catching shows from Everett to Tacoma. Bob and Joanne shared many beloved pets over the years. For many years their household was run by a spirited poodle mix and at least a couple of cats. All of the grandkids can be remembered toting around, dressing up, and playing with willing and not-so-willing pets over the years. Great-grandchildren enjoyed visits to "Grandpa's farm" playing on the swing set, picking blackberries or apples, and going for "hikes" in the woods. Bob and Joanne loved to "Get on the Road Again" and take road trips in their motorhome, taking in sites and scenery along the way, traveling across many state lines to visit family from California to South Dakota and everywhere in between. Their grandchildren were blessed to experience camping in the motorhome at Thousand Trails and made many visits to Yakima to visit Bob’s sister, Shirley, and her son Mike. They shared in many of our family memories camping at Lake Easton and the Ocean. Bob, Joanne, and their combined children and grandchildren have so many beloved memories of family gatherings. We shared good food, laughter, and lots of stories. We especially enjoyed the stories of Bob and his siblings on the farm, especially the time Percy had to bury his clothes in the yard after a tangle with a skunk. When we think back, I am sure we can all remember the birthdays, holidays, and the annual Christmas Party, they are some of our most treasured memories and brought our whole family together. Bob was a model of strength, hard work, patience, and kindness. He will be remembered for these qualities and for how much he loved cars, camping, nature, and most of all, his wife and family. "Everything I did, I did for my family," those were his own words he shared in his last few months while being cared for in a nursing home, in Texas. Even during our last several visits, we could get Bob to laugh recalling a favorite memory of a loved one. Bob's joyful memory and legacy will live on in our hearts in love. We love you Bob, Dad, Grandpa, Papa Bob. Thank you for all you did for us.
