Richard "Rick" Glenn Harrell

December 16, 1949 — February 3, 2021

Rick Harrell was born December 16, 1949 in Weatherford, Texas. He passed away February 3, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. He will be missed by all who know him. Rick is on his greatest adventure – heaven bound to an unimaginable new home for those who know and trust Jesus. Rick and his whole family found Jesus together one night in their home when an evangelist showed them the way. Rick is in the Lord’s care now. He has an amazing new body which came with an extra large lap. I asked God to give him one because he has three grandkids to hold while he gives them hugs and kisses. They are Miranda, Graysen, and Payden. There are many others awaiting him especially his parents, Chubby (Marvin) and Charlene Harrell, and my parents, Short and Tillie Hinshaw, and my sister, Penny Tressler. God has graciously surrounded Rick and me with a beautiful family and forever friends for our whole lives. There’s always been a church family. We have had many neighbors to become forever friends. God has been so good to us. Rick and I met during junior high school in Weatherford, Texas. Became high school sweethearts and married in 1969. Rick and Nita moved to Canyon where he finished college in 1972. His first job was in Lubbock, Texas, then we moved to Odessa to work for Sproles-Woodard. In 1979, as a certified public accountant, Rick opened the office in Artesia, New Mexico. He ran the Artesia office until 2007 when he retired. At that point, we moved to Spring Branch, Texas to be close to our granddaughter, Mackenzie. Today we have both sons living near us and six more grandchildren – what a gift. He has left me behind, his girlfriend since high school, his wife of 51 years now, and the mother of his two sons. Ryan married Rachel, our newest daughter to be added to the family. They added four grandkids to our family, Hailey, Hannah, Ethan, and Emma. Rustin married Clarissa, our long-time daughter. They added Mackenzie, Temperance, and Allyssa. This makes seven of the best grandkids ever. He has also left behind Vicki Riley, his sister, and her two daughters, Katy and Jenny. The friends he has left are many. These friends arrived through church, work, and our neighborhood. The fact is our friends are only okay with Rick’s death because they know that one day they will join Rick and none of us will ever have to say goodbye ever again. Please if you are reading this and you don’t understand, ask someone about Jesus so you too can become a part of this new life when you die. For those of us left on this earth, we all have memories of Rick. May these help us continue on with our lives and I hope they bring a smile or a laugh to you. We will have a graveside service in Clark Cemetery, which is north of Weatherford, 1338 Friendship Road, on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 11 a.m.
