Service: 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 18, 2020 at White’s Azle Chapel, Azle. Visitation: Noon until service time at White’s Azle Chapel. Interment: Ash Creek Cemetery following the service. Richard Lopez Ramon was born on May 16, 1957 to Amalio Deanda Ramon and Petra Lopez Ramon in Bakersfield, California. He moved with his family to Azle in 1969 where he lived out his life and raised his own family. His first son, Richard Nicholas Ramon was born in 1979. He met his beautiful wife, Cindy, on June 12, 1981 at Roeser Park in Azle. Cindy was driving around in her yellow Cutlass Supreme, and Richard was in his brand new Z28 T-Top Camaro. They chased each other around a bit before finally introducing themselves. From there they enjoyed many years of cruising around with the top down and attending as many rock concerts as they could, from Bruce Springsteen to Pink Floyd, Van Halen to Journey. They also enjoyed riding motorcycles with friends. After 17 years of fun, they decided to make it official and married on June 17, 1998. In 1993, they welcomed their daughter Annette Diane (Andi) Ramon, and in 2003, their son, Charles Adam (Chad) Ramon. Richard worked as a parts manager for 35+ years, with his final years being spent at Frank Kent Motor Company. When he wasn’t working, Richard was an avid bowler and participated in several bowling leagues. He also enjoyed ranching and spent his weekends at his ranch in Tolar, Texas, tending cattle. His family loved to joke with him about the time he “fought” a bull unintentionally. He ended up with an elbow and shoulder injury, however the bull eventually ended up on a dinner plate, so he still claims he had the victory. There was also an incident with a pocket knife his son gifted him one Christmas. He immediately cut his finger after opening it and was given a hard time the rest of the evening with lots of sarcastic puns and jokes that “cut deep”. He was a great sport and secretly enjoyed all the attention. Richard was a devoted father. He raised his children to be respectful and know the value of working hard. His oldest son, Nick, remembers family vacations to Angel Fire, New Mexico, and a dad who never missed a baseball practice or game. His daughter, Andi, tells stories of how Richard would help her reach the back of her head while dying her hair. Richard and Chad shared a love for Richard’s 1981 Z28 Camaro and were in the process of restoring it together. Richard was funny, laid back, loving, hard working, and a friend to everyone he met. To know him was to love him, for he never met a stranger. Richard will be deeply missed. He was proceeded in death by his father, Amalio Deanda Ramon, and his brother-in-law, Joe Meraz. He is survived by wife, Cindy Ramon; mother, Petra Lopez Ramon; children, Nick Ramon and wife, Cyndi, Andi Ramon, and Chad Ramon; sister, Rebecca Meraz; brother, Micheal Ramon and wife, Kristi; grandchildren, Grayson, Tenley, Cannon, and Deacon Ramon; nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Alex Meraz, and Timothy and Michelle Ramon; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his good friend of many years, Brenda Graham.
