Peggy Marie Vinson

Peggy Marie Vinson, 95, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 in Weatherford. There are no services planned at this time. Peggy was born June 28, 1928 to Ora Lee and Inez Jewel Mayfield in Merkel, Texas. She went to school in Sweetwater, Texas where she enjoyed being in singing groups, playing piano, playing the accordion and working in her mom’s cafe when she had free time. Peggy graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1946. She then went to college at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. While there, she was active in music and missions. She met and married Lester Vinson in September of 1948. Lester and Peggy committed their lives to full time pastoral ministry. They served in churches in Alabama, Kentucky and Texas. They had two children, Teresa Jean in 1950, and Edward Paul in 1954. Peggy’s greatest joy was serving others, whether it was on the mission field or opening her home to those who needed refuge. In her later years, a chronic pain condition limited her activities but she always kept her focus on joy, and telling everyone about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Martha Chrane; and her forever sweetheart, Lester Vinson. Peggy leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Jack and Jeanny Meeker, of Weatherford, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Gail Vinson, of Fair Oaks, California; five grandchildren, Mandy and Gary Cunningham of Weatherford, Texas, Lindee and Jon Knowles of Dayville, Connecticut, Crystal and Cory Schibler of College Station, Texas, Graham Vinson of Fair Oaks, California, and Mia Caron of Orangevale, California; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Gena Cunningham, Anne Cunningham, Rebecca Cunningham, Ozzie Caron, Ivy Caron, Rylie Schibler and Judah Schibler.
