Pedro Ortiz

November 13, 1944 — August 4, 2022

Pedro Ortiz, 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at home with this family. Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 108 N. W. 4th Ave. in Mineral Wells. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley, Weatherford. Pedro was born November 13, 1944 in Bennett, son of Gregorio Ortiz and Dolores Zepeda Ortiz. After he finished high school, he joined the United States Army, proudly and honorably serving in the Infantry on active duty from 1964 – 1969. Pedro then served in the National Guard from 1969 – 1983. He loved this country, the Constitution, and the flag and everything it stands for. Pedro met, fell in love and married Mary Ann Valley. They were married for 55 years, happily raising their family together. Pedro’s pride and joy were his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He enjoyed their visits and cookouts at home with all of them there, listening to their stories and laughter. His family was the light of his life. Pedro was very mechanically and electrically inclined. He enjoyed working on and fixing anything that he could. He loved playing the guitar and singing. Pedro enjoyed different types of music but you could always find him listening to Gospel or Country Blue Grass and singing right along. He also had a love for old western movies along with old war movies. Pedro was big on education and dreamed of all his grandchildren going to college one day, so he himself enrolled in college and was just a few short hours from getting his Associates Degree in Counseling before life hit and he was unable to finish. Pedro was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all of his loved ones. Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Ortiz; daughter, Becky Davis and husband, Steven E. Davis; son, Pedro Ortiz, Jr. and wife, Collyn Ortiz; granddaughter, Stefanie Davis Gillespie; grandsons, Pedro Ortiz, III (Tres), Steven A. Davis, and Troy Ortiz; great-granddaughter, Aria Turner; brother, Greg Ortiz; sisters, Bea Hood, Lyn Ortiz, Ester Lamb, Emelia Huffman, and Diane Longtine; and many other family members and dear friends.
