Pauline Jewel Free

September 2, 1937 — October 8, 2021

Pauline Duvall Free, 84, passed away on October 8, 2021, peacefully in her home in Millsap. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 13, 2021, at the Greenwood Community Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. Services will be conducted by Rev. Margie Holmes. Memorials can be made to White's Funeral Home in Weatherford, TX. She was born Pauline Jewel Duvall in Poolville, TX, to Clemmie Lee Duvall (Jack) and Sarah Odessa Jewel Rhea Duvall on September 2, 1937, one of five children. She graduated from Poolville High School in 1955, and in 12 years, Pauline proudly never missed a day of class. During her school days, she was active and involved, playing high school basketball, serving as the homecoming queen, and later continuing to nurture her love of basketball, playing for Weatherford College. On April 28, 1956, Pauline and Charles Thomas Free were married, starting the beginnings of a beautiful life and ever-growing family. Together they had three children: Randy, Sarah, and Becky. Pauline cherished being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother above all else, ensuring each of her family members always felt treasured and loved. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; namely, loving on her family with heartfelt and often funny conversation and of course tasty meals. To say she went above and beyond would be an understatement when referring to how devoted Pauline was to family. One fine example is how she memorialized her love by creating special albums, personalized cookbooks, and memoirs—one for each of her family members—capturing the family's history, photos, her personal reflections and childhood shenanigans that we will forever hold sacred. As fun-loving as she was, Pauline was someone who took her responsibilities seriously, even as a child. Her memoirs mention learning to drive at a very young age to cart her mother to work and perfecting farm chores (even though she didn't much care for them) to help her mother and father. As an adult, she exceled in and brought great pride to each job she took on. She worked many years at Loma Plastics, Letson R.L. Trucking, and then finally Campbell Memorial Hospital where, after 26 and a half years of dedication, she retired. At each of these jobs, not only did Pauline gain her livelihood, but she also gained many lifelong friends. Pauline was truly an angel on earth, a woman full of grace and love—and quite the sense of humor—that so many of us will miss. We are grieved to no longer have her to hug and laugh with but rejoice knowing she is now hugging those gone before her: her husband, Charles Free; parents, Jack and Odessa Duvall; sister Joyce Stubblefield; and son, Randy Free. She will be so dearly and deeply missed. Pauline is survived by her brothers Raymond Duvall (husband to Betty-deceased), Billy Jack Duvall (husband to Elizabeth-deceased), Robert Duvall (husband to Linda Sue); children Sarah Johns (wife to Lloyd), Becky Free, and wife to her late son Randy, Nita Hammond Free; grandchildren Justin Johns, Jason Reddin, Zach Johns, Tommy Ellis, Lucas Free, Shane Ellis, Montana Ellis, and Jacob Free; great grandchildren Daxton Johns, Deleigh Johns, Tyler Gore, Kyle Gore, William Reddin, Kaidence Glenn, Haylen Ellis, Praizlee Ellis, Grayson Ellis, Hudson Ellis, Landen Free, Mason Free, and Wyatt Free. The family of Pauline wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to Kindred at Home for helping care for her during her last days with us.
