Patricia Ann Davis

December 4, 1940 — March 9, 2021

Patricia Ann Davis, age 80, passed away on March 9, 2021, surrounded by family. A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at 2:00 pm, at North Side Baptist Church, 901 N. Main Street, Weatherford, Texas. Pat (as she liked to be called), was born in Odessa, Texas, to Roy Jackson Crawford and Mamie Lou Blume Crawford. She was the youngest of 6 children. At the time Pat was born, her father worked in the oilfields, but the family soon moved back to Wilbarger County, Texas, where the Crawford family had strong farm and ranching ties. Pat’s great-grandfather, J.B. Crawford and his family traveled from Louisiana in 1888, driving 186 head of cattle. They were eight weeks on the road and all their household belongings were carried in four ox wagons. J.B. Crawford served as Wilbarger County treasurer from 1898 to his death in 1906. Pat’s family settled in the small town of Odell, Texas. She loved to tell stories of how her family worked as sharecroppers on the farm where they lived. She remembers that as a small child she would watch the babies of the cotton field workers, while the rest of her family picked cotton. When she was about elementary age, she joined the family in picking cotton. It was a hard life, but it was all she knew. Pat’s school years were filled with many activities which included cheerleading, playing basketball, being nominated as Halloween Princess, and being a member of FHA. Pat attended Odell Baptist Church, where at a young age she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She had a family that was secure and strong in their faith and they made sure that she grew up in the knowledge and wisdom of Christ. Her faith in God was her greatest treasure and she passed on that faith and knowledge to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her most memorable job in high school was when she worked as a carhop at Owens drive-in restaurant, in Vernon, Texas. This is where at age 15 she met the love of her life, Gene Davis. She remembers that Gene would come to the restaurant every day after school just to see her. One day he summoned the courage to ask if he could take her home after she got off work. She said yes, and from that day on, they never separated. They dated for one year before marrying on June 1, 1957. Soon after marrying, the young couple moved to Irving, Texas, where Gene gained employment at American Motors Corporation, and Pat studied for her GED, so that she could graduate early. Very soon, 4 children were added to the family, all girls! They moved to Southlake, Texas, joined Carroll Road Baptist Church, and Pat quickly invested herself in every area that she could, from singing in the choir, to teaching, to being an avid member of the “visitation team”. She loved sharing the “Good News” with every person that she could. She was a wonderful example of servant leadership for her family, and it was a joy for her to see her girls being “trained in the way they should go”, Proverbs 22:6. Pat enjoyed many years of being a homemaker, but later found employment with Holiday Inn Corporation, where she became a stellar sales manager and gained many accolades for her work with the public. In the 1990’s, Pat decided to get her real estate license, and it wasn’t long before she joined the ranks of the Million Dollar Sales Club. This was no surprise, as she loved meeting new people, and showed kindness and respect to everyone she met. After her girls had grown, Pat and Gene retired and moved to Weatherford, Texas, where they joined North Side Baptist Church. They became active members, enjoying their Sunday school class and small groups. In recent years, Gene and Pat have been blessed by the homebound ministry of North Side and faithfully listened to the radio broadcast each week. Pat and Gene were married for 62 years before his death in 2019. Since Gene’s passing, Pat knew that her time on earth was fleeting, and she spent as much time as she could enjoying her family and friends. Her daily mantra has been “surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever” Psalm 23:6. Her family and friends are comforted to know that she is now surely living each glorious day in that Heavenly place that God had prepared for her!! Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mamie Crawford; her loving husband, Gene Davis; her siblings, Dorothy, Louella, Donald, and Bobby. She is survived by her four daughters, Renee (Ernest) DeLaRosa, Sherry (Stephen) Bezner, Michelle (Rick) Sparks, Andrea Sherman; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews that she loved dearly; her sisters, Virginia Byers, and Virginia Crawford; relatives and friends.
