Ofelia Gallego Ward

Ofelia Gallego (Rodriguez) Ward passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Ofelia was born August 3, 1937 in Alpine, daughter of Charles and Clara (Gallego) Rodriguez. Ofelia had a heart of service. She ran the Alpine Neighborhood Center for over 20 years, she drove the Medical Transport van for several years, and she was a faithful member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Ofelia loved to cook and garden, but her first love was her family. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with, and helping out, her family whenever she could. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Ward; and several brothers and sisters. Ofelia is survived by her children, Charlie Ward, of Roswell, New Mexico, Beatrice Alvarez of Aledo, Sara Thompson of Fort Worth, and Wayne Ward of Alpine; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sister, Celia Roman of Brackettville; brothers, Robert Rodriguez, and Joe Rodriguez, both of Alpine; and a host of extended family members and friends. Ofelia had a heart of gold, and she will be missed by all who knew her. At Ofelia's request, no services are scheduled at this time.
