Nita Bell Huckabee Miles, 90, passed into the arms of her loving Savior on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.
Graveside Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022 at East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford.
Nita was born December 30, 1931 in Floydada, daughter of Otis Hoyt and Beulah Foster Huckabee. She grew up on the family farm in Floyd County and could drive a tractor, plant, harvest, and take care of the farm animals. Nita was a hard worker.
She graduated from Lockney High School in 1949 where she participated in the band and played the cornet. Nita attended nursing school to become a nurse, but fell in love with Alvie, and they married July 2, 1950 in Lockney at the First Methodist Church. They moved around West Texas for a number of years with Alvie’s job at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a lineman. Nita and Alvie were married for 30 years.
Nita was baptized at First Baptist Church in Plainview in 1954. She loved music and sang in the church choir at Emmanuel Baptist Church and also often sang solos with her beautiful voice. Nita worked at Emmanuel Baptist Church as the secretary for over 40 years.
She is survived by her children, Karan Miles Haynes and Oatis, Dani Miles Joy and Joe, and Kerry Miles and Reyna; grandchildren, Matthew Haynes, Melanie Haynes Lewis and Rachel Hyatt and Alex Joy; great-grandchildren, THE LIGHT OF HER LIFE in her later years, Emily Haynes, Wade Haynes, Kailey Haynes, Abigail Lewis, Malachi Lewis and Rebekah Lewis.
