Nelda Ferne Stone Robinson

Nelda Ferne Stone Robinson, age 90, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2024 in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Ferne was born in Erath County on May 11th, 1933. She was the youngest daughter, and second youngest child of ten children born to Edgar Horace Stone and Beatrice Kilcrease Stone. Ferne was raised in Dublin, Texas. In her high school years, she loved to sing and would sing with a couple of friends on a local radio station. She also loved gathering with brothers and sisters and recording gospel songs and always harmonizing with such joy in their hearts. She would go on to graduate from Dublin High School and move to Dallas, Texas. Ferne married Richard Robinson on January 21, 1955, in Dallas, and the couple would go on to have one child, Patricia, born in February of 1958. Ferne was a stay home mom while raising her daughter, after raising her daughter she would go to work in the banking industry. Deciding to return to her hometown of Dublin, she would then go to work at Erath County Clerk’s office until her retirement. Her biggest hobby after retirement was her two Granddaughters that she loved so much. With Mamaw living three houses down from them they became a permanent fixture at times in her home with a lot of snacks and TV. Their big outing was the newest release at the movies sometimes making a second trip to see the same movie twice. Ferne came from a large family and loved spending time with them at yearly family reunions and get-togethers. She really enjoyed playing 42 with all the brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews that dared to be her opponent. She was very competitive and would play 42 all night in hopes to see her name on the trophy plaque for that yearly reunion. Later Ferne would move to Weatherford to be closer to her daughter and then moving to her place she called home, College Park Nursing Home and Rehab. She gained many new friends whom she thought of as family, from the amazing nurses and aides who took care of her, to the residents she competed with weekly in Bingo and Wii Bowling. She was known to the nursing home as the bowling champ scoring perfect 300 scores. She proudly wore her Bowling Champion Crown and Sash to make sure everyone knew what they were up against. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Porter, Pappy, Don, and Pete Stone; and five sisters, Ruby Jackson, Bernice Suitt, Vivia Jackson, Blondie Jones, and Marie Hughes; and granddaughter, Mindi Janel Roulston. Survivors include one daughter, Patti of Weatherford; one granddaughter, Tricia Petree and husband, Joe; four great-grandchildren, Adley, Olivia, Jack, and Ellis Petree; as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family. Over the years, Ferne touched many lives, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
