Milton "Soup" Wayne Campbell, Sr.

Milton Wayne “Soup” Campbell, Sr., loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend; passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022. Visitation: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 at White’s Funeral Home, Weatherford. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Millsap Baptist Church, 209 Locust St., Millsap. Interment: Holder’s Chapel Cemetery, Cool. Soup was born November 17, 1937 in Fort Worth, son of John Kerkendall and Nevy Wynn (Barton) Campbell. Soup met the love of his life, Glenda “June” Knight, and they were married on June 21, 1957. They would go on to spend over 63 happy years together until June’s passing in 2020. Through the years, June and Soup touched many lives playing gospel music for churches all over the county. They sang for many gospel gatherings, weddings and many funerals for their friends and loved ones. Soup was a long-time member of the Cool Assembly of God Church. He loved his church family and He and June could often be found playing and singing together for their church services. Soup started teaching High School in 1959 in Millsap and would move to Mineral Wells ISD in 1960. He would go on to retire in 1986 as principal for Mineral Wells Junior High School. He would later go to work for KBR Brown and Root as a contractor with the military. During this tenure, he traveled to Hungary, Albania, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. Returning to his first love of educating children, he would go back to substitute teach at Millsap ISD, even up until his passing. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years and 99 days, June; two brothers; and one sister. He leaves behind two beautiful children, Melody Ann Campbell-Bodine and husband, Mike and Milton Wayne “Bubba” Campbell, Jr. and wife, Marcy; seven grandchildren, Amy and husband Kennedy, Curtis and wife Stephanie, Lesley and husband Robert, Julie and husband Robert, John and wife Mackinze, Melissa and husband Gerime, and Hannah; 12 great-grandchildren with two additional great-grandchildren on the way; and one great great-grandchild; sister, Theola Duncan; brother, Daniel Campbell and wife, Diann; brother-in law, Dr. Bill Knight and wife, Shirlene; and a host of other extended family members and friends.
