Maurine Mae Huston, 95, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022 in Weatherford. Memorial Visitation: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at White’s Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Maurine was born May 23, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to Clifford Hemstreet and Dolly Ilene (Silver) Smith. She was one of four sisters. Maurine was married to Don Huston and they had three children together. Maurine worked at the telephone company, as a Home Health Aide, and for J. C. Penney for a total of 50 years. She was also a very talented seamstress. While the family misses her, they cherish the time she had here on earth and the life that she lived. She lived to be 95 years old and had an experience like no other. She lived through two centuries and survived the Great Depression and the Covid pandemic of 2020. She was the Grandma that would sew your costumes and then stab you with a butter knife because your elbows were on the dinner table. She once ate a cup of gravy thinking it was pudding and always wanted a scooch more. Maurine was preceded in death by her children, Donald Huston, Jr., Janet Avery, and Jacqueline Slobodgen-Pitts. She is cherished and missed by her remaining grandchildren, Tim Avery, Derek Slobodgen, and Melyssa Slobodgen; and great-grandchild, Shelbi Slobodgen.
