To Livestream Funeral Service Click Here It is with a heavy heart and deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Matthew Antonio Pagan in the early hours on Tuesday, September 19, 2021, in Weatherford, after over a month-long battle with COVID, at the age of 30. Matthew had many roles but being a husband, father, son, brother, and uncle were his most important. Funeral Service: 3 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021, at North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford. Visitation: 1 - 3 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service. Matthew was born October 24, 1990, in Chicago, Illinois, son of Michael and Maria Cruz Pagan. He was born and raised in Chicago…he loved his city. He moved to Texas with his wife and children to make a better life for his family. Matthew worked for Tarrant County because he wanted to follow in his dad’s footsteps of being a Civil Servant. Matthew loved God and his family. He loved spending time with his dad and siblings. Playing golf, bowling, and playing pool were some of his favorite things to do with them. His Dad was his best friend, and he was very protective over him. Matthew also loved to play video games, by himself and with his sons. He loved taking long drives with his beautiful wife, Melissa. Matthew loved to laugh and joke around with his family and friends. Everyone would say his smile and laugh were very contagious and he gave the best hugs in the world, especially when he knew his wife, mom or sisters needed one. Matthew was a gentle giant, a big man with a big laugh and smile. He was quirky and goofy and so family oriented that if he could, he would have had us do EVERYTHING together, lol. He dedicated his life to being a good man, a loving husband and father who worked hard and put family first. Matthew was tough on the outside, was a fierce protector of those he loved, but had a big heart and was ready to help whenever there was a need. As a child, Matthew was very loving and always had his room organized. He did not like clutter. Everything had to be in its place. Matthew was very picky but very passionate about the food that he liked and that he didn’t like. Pretzels were his favorite snack, and he tried many varieties. He loved arros con gandules (Puerto Rican rice), pernil (pork roast) and he couldn’t get enough of Olive Garden’s bread sticks. For someone who was a picky eater, he liked broccoli and homemade sourdough bread. Matthew has left a void in our family that will never be filled and will be missed terribly. We are all devastated by Matthew’s loss. He was a healthy, strong, 30 year old, just starting his life with his wife and children. Losing him so suddenly comes with an immense amount of grief and heartache to us all. There are not enough words to describe how much his love will be missed in this world. We all know that one day we will see him again in heaven. Matthew is survived by his wife, Melissa; and three sons, Anthony Martinez, Erin Mendias and his youngest, 5 year old Matthew, Jr.; his father, Michael Sr., mother, Maria; brother, Michael Jr.; sisters, Malissa and Melanie. Matthew’s famous phrase – “Everything happens for a Reason.”
