Mary Anne Hooper

June 22, 1932 — December 31, 2025

Weatherford

Born June 22, 1932, the daughter of John Joseph and Julia Wachal, Mary Anne lived a full productive life of 93 years. She was a devout Christian and natural leader who served others throughout her life. Her selection to be president of the Women’s Society and later election to be the first woman to chair Atlanta’s Saint Mark Methodist Church Administrative Board reflect her high regard by others.

Mary Anne’s singing talent was shared through lifelong participation in both various church choirs and the Atlanta Choral Guild. Her literary skills led to the writing of many poems, each reflecting her insight into either an important or whimsical aspect of life.

Family was the focal point of Mary Anne’s life. She is survived by her husband John. Together they shared a friendship of over ninety years; sixty-eight of those years in a happy and productive marriage. Her daughter Christie Elizabeth Nelson and son Charles Jeffery Hooper blessed her life with four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mary Anne firmly believed in the value and continuity that the life of each person, past present and future, brings to those around them and thus to all mankind. She would consider this time as the culmination of a life fulfilled – one that has been blessed with all the gifts of family and love, and the joy of involvement that life can provide.
