Mary Magdalene Anderson, 85, was born to Joe Lee and Rosalie Massey on January 10, 1941 in Merkel, Texas, and passed away on April 3, 2026.
Mary lived a full and productive life having spent the majority of her working career in the restaurant business. In 1991, she started what would become the well known eating establishment - Mary’s Brazos Cafe at Tin Top. Through that effort, she served her community, would help folks in need, and become influential and instrumental in the growth of Tin Top. She was well known in the Weatherford and Tin Top communities as being very independent and outspoken.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Joe Don Massey of Azle.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Anderson, who she married at their home in Tin Top on November 23, 1997; two brothers, Tracy Massey of Amarillo, and Milford Massey of Waco; two sons, Andrew Darling of Amarillo, and Mark Anderson of Mineral Wells; four daughters, Tammy Harmon of Tin Top, Dr. Julie Southward of Richardson, Margarett Anderson of Weatherford, and Linda Christen Simmons of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered as a servant of her community whose tenacity and will would prove to help shape the character of Tin Top through one of her most recognizable phrases, “GO TO WORK!”
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, at White’s Funeral Home in Weatherford.
Services for Mary will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, at Tin Top Tabernacle located at 250 Old Tin Top Rd., Weatherford, Texas.
