Marene Deaton went on to be in the presence of Jesus on October 26, 2021. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Monday, November 8, 2021 at Lakeshore Baptist Church, 200 S. Lakeshore Drive, Hudson Oaks. Interment: New Gordon Cemetery, Gordon. Visitation: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2021 at White’s Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Marene was born on January 31, 1929, in San Angelo, TX, to BJ and Clara Hudson. She was the gentlest person on the planet but feisty enough to manage her husband, Bob. Robert Deaton and Marene Hudson married on December 12, 1948. Throughout the years, Marene has been involved in all sorts of ministries including teaching in the inner city and being a part of church outreach to kids in the projects. Marene lived in so many different places as a part of God’s calling on her and her family’s lives between Texas and Ohio, it is hard to name them all. Marene also had one of the sweetest voices and could sing like no one else. She passed on that musical talent and it lives on in her family. One of Marene’s greatest loves was reading. This explains her degrees in library science and education. Her house always had books in every nook and cranny. Her love of reading and books contributed to her helping establish the library at her church, Lakeshore Baptist, which was subsequently named after her. When Marene passed on, she went to be in the presence of her mother, Clara May Olsen Hudson Tucker, her father, BJ Hudson, her husband, Robert Deaton, her son, Bryan Lee Deaton, and her daughter, Marlene Deaton. Those left to miss her include her sons, Darril and Ron, her daughter-in-law, Dawn (married to Darril), brother, Billy Hudson, her grandchildren, Darin and Denise (married to Curtis Smith), granddaughter-in-law, Alexis, her great-grandson, Nathan Lee Deaton, and countless others whose lives she had touched.
