Lisa Perkins Mathis, born on September 26, 1963, in Fort Worth, TX, was lovingly raised by her parents, Mackie and Hubert “Gene” Perkins. Lisa entered heaven on Thursday, September 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to her family. She was 62 years young.
Lisa grew up in Haltom City, where she never met an activity she didn’t want to be part of or a stranger she couldn’t turn into a friend. Her childhood was filled with memories that would become family stories for years to come. In 1969, she was crowned Mini Miss Haltom City, a title that became a beloved family inside joke that never quite went away. She even made appearances on Romper Room and later became a Haltom High Stepper. Lisa had a gift for collecting friends everywhere she went, and she made people feel like they had known her forever.
Lisa was many things throughout her life, a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. A believer in Jesus Christ, Lisa’s faith was at the heart of who she was and how she loved others. She was the biggest mama bear you could ever meet. She loved her children fiercely, stood beside them through everything, and would protect them with every ounce of her being. She spent many years working alongside her son, Justin, and daughter, Brittany, in their Springtown office, always finding a way to “help” and keep things moving along.
Lisa had a creative spirit and loved crafting, decorating, and getting into all things glitter. If there was a craft project, holiday, celebration, or reason to make something a little more special, Lisa was all in. She brought color, personality, and a little bit of sass to everything she touched.
But above all else, Lisa’s greatest pride and joy were her four granddaughters, Brylee, Carsyn, Finley, and Hattie. They were the absolute light of her life. She was the most enthusiastic volleyball fan in the stands, making sure everyone around her knew exactly who she was there to support. The girls could always find their Yaya in the stands. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate them, spoil them, or remind them just how beautiful and special they were. Her love for those four girls was limitless, and there was nothing she wouldn’t have done for them.
Lisa also had a heart that simply did not know how to say no when someone needed help. She would give you the shirt off her back without thinking twice. If you needed it or wanted it, she would find a way. She gave generously, loved without keeping score, and cared deeply for the people fortunate enough to be in her life. She was, at her core, just good.
Lisa leaves behind her mother, Mackie Perkins; her children, Justin Mathis (Emily) and Brittany Pitts (Clay); her four granddaughters, Brylee, Carsyn, Finley, and Hattie; her sister Paula Hiett (Todd), nephews Blake Hiett (Leah) and Blane Hiett (Peyton), and extended family members, and countless friends who loved her dearly.
She is welcomed in Heaven by her father, Gene Perkins, her Nanny, and MeMom. We know she is overjoyed to be reunited with them, and heaven for sure just got a lot louder.
Lisa will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her laughter, her stories, her generosity, her creativity, her stubborn streak, her sass, and her enormous heart will live on in the people she loved most. She taught those around her that family is everything, that you help people when they need you, and that there is always room for a little more love and probably a little more glitter.
Though the loss of Lisa leaves a space that can never be filled, we take comfort in knowing that she spent her life loving her people fiercely and making sure they knew they were loved. Her greatest legacy will not be found in things she owned, but in the lives she touched and, most of all, in the four beautiful granddaughters who will carry her love with them forever.
