Linda Ann Butler Lang
December 22, 1945 - July 12, 2026
Linda Ann Butler Lang, age 80, passed away on July 12, 2026, at Clearfork Assisted Living and Memory Care in Willow Park, Texas.
Linda was born on December 22, 1945, in Danville, Illinois, to Virgil Arnold Butler and Verna Jewell Winters Butler. She moved to Winter Haven, Florida, as a young child and later lived in Sarasota, Florida.
From an early age, Linda knew she wanted to become both a teacher and a mother. She attended Florida State University and devoted her life to those two callings. She married the love of her life, George Charles "Sandy" Lang, whom she had first met when they were just 14 years old. Together, they made their home in Seminole County, Florida, where they raised their two children.
Linda dedicated her career to educating children. Her own love of learning continued throughout her life as she earned both a master's degree and a specialist degree. Teaching was more than her profession; it was an essential part of who she was. She believed in children, encouraged their potential, and found great purpose in helping them learn and grow.
Her family was the center of her life. She treasured her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was blessed with two children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Following the death of her son, David, Linda moved to Texas to receive memory care close to her daughter, Lisa, and her grandchildren. During her final year, she was surrounded by family and received loving care nearby. One especially treasured memory was celebrating Linda's 80th birthday together in December 2025.
Linda had a remarkable ability to see the good in everyone. She met others with hope, kindness, and a generous spirit, always choosing to believe the best about the people around her. Her life reflected the words of Philippians 4:8:
"Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable -
if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things."
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Charles "Sandy" Lang, and her son, David Allen Lang.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Michelle Marte; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and friends who will cherish her memory.
