Leuell Curtis Jernigan, age 76, passed from his earthly home to his eternal home, into the arms of his Savior on Sunday, February 25, 2024, of natural causes. His service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024 in White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas. Curtis was born May 7, 1947, in Minden, Louisiana to Leuell and Lorene Jernigan. He was a graduate of Gladewater High School and attended Weatherford College. Curtis was a gifted drummer, playing in the band and for many school and community functions. He was a Vietnam Veteran and proud of having served in the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. Curtis attained the rank of Sergeant E-5, and was awarded several medals, as well as the prestigious Bronze Star. He was a retired Pipeline Engineer with Chevron Oil Corporation. Curtis was always our entertainment at family gatherings, causing uncontrollable laughter, as he told stories we had heard many times before. He had so many great stories about hunting and other life experiences that he will likely continue to tell throughout eternity. Curtis is survived by three children, Brian, John, and Daniel Jernigan; sister, Jerri Jernigan; twin sister, Carole Jernigan Govan and her husband, Chip; brother, Keith Jernigan and his wife, Cheryl; and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
