Katherine Louise Neely, of Newark, TX, age 70, passed away February 5, 2022 at the Hills Nursing Facility in Decatur, TX after a long illness. The family wishes to thank the staff for their loving care of Kathy during her time there. Graveside Service: 12 noon, Thursday, February 10, 2022, in Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, February 9, 2022, in White’s Chapel in Springtown, 401 N. Main St. Interment: Springtown Cemetery following graveside service. She was born July 24, 1951, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Lee Valentine, Jr. and Captola Mills Valentine and grew up in Ellicott City, MD. She was a majorette for the marching band and graduated from Howard High School. She went to school for Property Management which moved her and her daughter from MD to TN to KY and finally made her way to Texas. This is where she began to live her life her way. Kathy and her husband, Floyd met in May of 1989 and quickly fell in love and married August 4, 1989. They have celebrated their love together for the past 32 years. Before her marriage, she was an amazing single mother for 17 years. She helped raise several teenage, giggly girls and made lots of fun memories with them, there was always a houseful. She loved to have fun and cook for family and friends, especially on the holidays. Kathy was an extremely strong-willed and independent minded woman who would fight a bear to protect the ones she loved. Kathy was very devoted and loved her family and leaves behind her husband, Floyd; her daughter, Dawn and son-in-love, Jay Killough, Son, Kevin Neely, brother, Danny and sister-in-love, Jayne Valentine; brother, Joseph Miskell; nephew, Nick Valentine and Jennifer; niece, Jennifer Helton and Tommy; great-nephews, Bradrick Helton and Ryker Valentine; great-niece, Emma Helton, and she will be greatly missed by additional cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. She was loved and will be missed and remembered by all her family and friends who knew her.
