She was born on June 12, 1948, in Gorman, Texas, to Fred and Marjorie Lamb. Kathy spent her early years in Ranger, Texas, before her family moved to the Fort Worth area during her teenage years. She married her husband, Barney, in 1966 and they had been married for 49 years before Barney passed away in 2018.
A proud graduate of Richland High School (Class of 1966), Kathy went to work for the gas company shortly after graduation. In the 1980s, she took on part-time work with Walmart, and later found her true calling as an instructional aide at Springtown Middle School, where she touched the lives of many students until her retirement in the late 1990s.
Kathy was known for her creativity and passion for crafts. She excelled in counted cross-stitch, cake decorating, painting, floral design, and sewing. A dedicated collector, she surrounded herself with gingerbread men, little lambs, and other items that reflected her whimsical spirit and deep American and Texan pride. She was a devoted fan of the Texas Rangers and rarely missed a game.
Family was everything to Kathy. She loved nothing more than being with her husband, Barney, surrounded by their children and grandchildren, whom she proudly declared were her life’s crowning achievements. She also spent countless hours researching both the Lamb and Haugen family histories, preserving their legacies for future generations. Known for her generous heart and her equally strong will, Kathy made a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Kathy is survived by her children: Brent Haugen and wife Cindy of Springtown, TX; Greg Haugen and wife Amy of Arlington, TX; and her favorite daughter, Holly Gibbons and husband Eddie of Fort Worth, TX. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Karalyn Haugen, Carli Crain and husband Coy, Brock Haugen, Erica Haugen, Audrey Haugen, and Jack Haugen; great-grandson James Crain; her brother, Bill Lamb; sisters- and brothers-in-law Dorothy Horton and husband Forrest, Kathy Sorrels, and Eddie Haugen and wife Susie.
