Joyce M. Sturdivant

January 1, 1934 — December 10, 2020

Joyce M. Sturdivant, 86, entered into eternity with Christ on Thursday, December 10, 2020. A viewing will be Monday, December 14th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at White’s Funeral Home, 101 N. E. 4th Ave., Mineral Wells. Graveside services will be held at the Woodland Park Cemetery Tuesday, December 15th at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Alcorn officiating under the direction of White’s Funeral Home of Mineral Wells. Joyce was born in Cunningham on January 1, 1934, the only child of Marvin W. and Oneta Hulett Coyle. After World War II, they moved to Weatherford where she attended high school and Weatherford Jr. College. While attending college she met and later married Bob Sturdivant, who had just returned from the Korean War. They were married on May 23, 1953 at the North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford. After they were married, they made their home in Mineral Wells where she became a Mother and a homemaker, raising three sons. Joyce later worked in the Finance/Payroll section at Ft. Wolters, as well as in the family business, Sturdivant Davidson Hardware. She was active in the Zontas, the Woman’s Club, and the Art Club for many years. Joyce was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was active for many years in Vacation Bible School and a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. After all the kids “left the nest,” she and Bob traveled to many places around the world and thoroughly enjoyed their travels. Mom, thanks for your constant and unconditional love. You gave and sacrificed for your family and community, and church throughout your life. May you live forever in the presence of the Lord God. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bob. Joyce is survived by three sons, Mark Sturdivant and Tracy Sturdivant of Dallas, and Todd Sturdivant and wife, Kathy, of Pflugerville; grandson, Taylor Sturdivant and wife, Lauren, of Georgetown; granddaughter, Jordan Sturdivant of Austin; great-granddaughters, Elizabeth, Hazel and Charlotte Sturdivant. A special thanks to caregivers, Marsia Hirsch and Mallorie Dellipaoli. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8
