Joyce Hogeveen, 86, of Springtown, passed away on the early morning of February 7, 2026, at Azle Manor Nursing Home in Azle, TX, where she was cared for and lived for the past two years.

Daughter of Steven and Alice (Killen) Haddow she, was born in Chicago, Illinois, on 25 December 1939. She was raised in Hazel Crest, Illinois. She earned her bachelor’s from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri and is a Chi Omega sorority alum. Joyce worked two years as a stewardess for Continental Airlines, but had to quit when she fell in love, because the company did not employ married airline hostesses at the time. She worked in public schools as an art teacher for 35 years, including 20 years in Chicago suburbs. In 2017, she moved back to Texas from Lowell, Indiana to be closer to her sons.

Joyce attended First United Methodist Church of Springtown until she moved into Azle Manor. She had an appreciation for western and Native American art. As an artist herself, she enjoyed using stained glass, watercolors, and charcoal. She loved Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, especially her last two pups, Maggie and Cassie. Joyce was an avid reader and was a regular at her local library.

Joyce was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert “Bob” Hogeveen.  

She is survived by her brother, Thomas “Tom” Haddow, her two sons, Theodore Baker and Donald (Andrea) Baker, her four grandchildren (Emma, Sadie, Theodore, and Alice), several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and her former husband, Donald Baker.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21st, at 10:00 am, at White's Funeral Home Chapel in Springtown, to which all are welcome to attend.
