JoAnn (Castro) Vila, 65, passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024, at her home in Mineral Wells. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024, White’s Funeral Home, Mineral Wells. Graveside Service: 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024, Woodland Park Cemetery, Mineral Wells. JoAnn was born July 19, 1958, in Saginaw, Michigan, daughter of Johnnie and Julia (Castro) Acosta. She would grow up in Ranger, Texas being raised by her “Mama,” Maria Abandanada. She met the love of her life, Paul Vila, and they were married on January 1, 1977. They would go on to spend 47 happy years together raising their family. JoAnn was an organizational expert. Whether it being her home, her wardrobe, and all things in between; she wanted to be sure everything matched and was in place. She loved shopping, she loved her morning sunrises and coffee, and she LOVED the beach. She also enjoyed word puzzles and coloring. Of all of her interests in life, her first love was her family. She adored her husband, and her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She is preceded in death by her birth parents; her “Mama”; brother, Johnnie Acosta; and sister, Rosa Waltman. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul Vila; children, Sylvia Vila, Erica Yowell (Russell), Jacob Vila (Maria), and Rebecca Porter; grandchildren, Evan Matherley, Isaiah Yowell, Maya Yowell, Nox Vila, Lux Vila, and Lenix Vila; brothers, Richard Acosta, Roland Acosta, and Joe Castro; sisters, Delia Acosta-Trevino, and Mona DelRio (Floyd); numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.
