Jo Anne Scott

Jo Anne “JoAnne” Scott, nee Moyers, passed away on May 3, 2024, at the Holland Lake Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, in Weatherford.

 She was born on September 1, 1935, in Longview, Texas. JoAnne was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.  She cherished her family deeply and spent countless hours supporting and caring for her loved ones.  JoAnne was known for her loving nature and selfless devotion to her family, always putting their needs above her own. She enjoyed travelling with her family and creating costumes and uniforms for her children.

 After the passing of her husband, Morris Marvin Scott, JoAnne worked as a salesclerk and managed the material department at the Motts Five-and-Dime store Azle.  Following the closure of Motts, she worked the cash register at Azle Schools Cafeterias.

 JoAnne’s hobbies included painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting and various arts and crafts activities.  She found joy and fulfillment in creating beautiful pieces with her hands.

 She is survived by her son, Donald Scott; grandchildren, Andrea Scott, Dr. Amber (Scott) Benhardt, Scott Gathright, and Leigh Anna (Gathright) Bopp.   JoAnne was preceded in death by her father, Donald Moyers; mother, Ruby Moyers; and daughter, Joan Elaine (Scott) Gathright.
