Jimmie Joe Wiley

Jimmie Joe Wiley born October 20, 1940 left his earthly home Sunday, October 26, 2025. Jimmie Joe known to so many as JJ was the first born of Margie Marie Cogburn and William Manchester “Chester” Wiley in Fort Worth, Texas. When JJ was three years old Chester was working for the Cap Farmer Dairy and Margie was working for Montgomery Wards when they welcomed sister, Helen Marie, and purchased what became the Wiley Dairy in Aledo, Texas. JJ attended Aledo Elementary and at the age of six welcomed another sister, Alta “Margaret” and then his brother, Tommy Chester, three years later.

Dairy life, cattle, and football carried JJ into high school and to graduation from Aledo. From 1959-1964 Jim was blessed with four children, David Chester, Anthony Wade, Phillip Joe, and Elizabeth D’Neen. Jimmie Joe continued in the family dairy business buying and selling dairy cattle and helping with the Dairy Cattle Auction owned by his father, Chester, in Mansfield, Texas where Jim raised his children. In 1986, he along with Chester and his brother-in-law Terry Hyles, started Clearfork Materials in Aledo.

On October 30, 1998, Jimmie Joe married Susan Eskew Carroll whom he lovingly referred to as “his honey bunny”. They loved to travel and spent so much of their time at their deer lease in Albany. In 2015, JJ and Susan moved back to the Wiley Farm and enjoyed the cattle and country life together. He retired after the sale of Clearfork Materials and spent his time on the farm he loved so much. Raising Red Angus cattle was his passion that he shared with his son Phillip over the last ten years. Just driving through those cattle and admiring them brought him so much joy.

One of the greatest story tellers ever, Jimmie Joe could recount events from his childhood on, and entertain anyone listening. He was generous to those he saw in need and helped so many people anonymously because he did not do it for the glory, he did it because that is who he was. There is a missing piece in the Wiley family puzzle, one that can never be replaced, but it will be held together with the memories, the passing down of stories, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Jimmie Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Margie Marie Wiley; and father, William Manchester “Chester” Wiley; his sister, Margaret Wiley; and brother, Tommy Wiley; his son, Andy Wiley; and stepdaughter, Amy Lou Carroll.

Jimmie Joe is survived by his loving wife, Susan Wiley; three beloved dogs; his children, his son, David Wiley, his son, Phillip Wiley and his wife, Monica, and his daughter, Elizabeth “DNeen” Mimms. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Helen Marie Hyles and her husband, Terry; his sister-in-law, Diane Wiley; and several nieces and nephews. His legacy lives on in his wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation is at 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2:00 at the Parker County Cowboy Church, 5050 FM 5, Aledo, Texas. Burial will follow at the Aledo Brown Cemetery, 1000 East FM 1187, Aledo, Texas.
