Jane Ellen Powderly Chase, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 11, 2026.
Jane was born on July 21, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York, to Vincent and Lillian Powderly. An only child, she was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from Catherine McCauley Catholic High School in the East Flatbush section of the city.
An avid bowler, Jane met the love of her life, Laurence Chase, through the sport they both enjoyed. The couple was married on August 18, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York. In 1964, they relocated to Irving, Texas, where they built their life together and raised their family.
Throughout her life, Jane was known for her strong work ethic and caring nature. She worked as a bank teller before spending more than twenty years as a dental assistant and office manager. Later, she operated her own daycare for over twenty years, a role she especially cherished because it allowed her to care for many of her grandchildren.
Jane was a devoted member of Saint Luke Catholic Church in Irving, Texas, where she served faithfully for many years. She was actively involved in parish life, serving as President of the Parish Council and the Altar Society and helping organize numerous church fundraisers and community events.
In her free time, Jane enjoyed crocheting and bowling. She excelled in the sport she loved, qualifying for and winning multiple state bowling championships. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her family.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Chase; her parents, Vincent and Lillian Powderly; and her daughter-in-law, Elaine Chase.
She is survived by her children, Lillian Garrett and husband James, Laurence Chase Jr. and wife DeeAnne, Vincent Chase, Kurt Chase and wife Melinda, Robert Chase and wife Colette, Thomas Chase, and Carol Taylor and husband Steve; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.
Jane will be laid to rest beside her husband, Laurence, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
