Azle - James Sanford Swan, 91, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Visitation and Funeral: 9:00 a.m. visitation, with the service beginning at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2026 in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley, Weatherford.
James Sanford Swan was born April 10, 1935 to Albert Sanford and Lillie Mae Swan in Dickens, Texas. James grew up on a farm in Dickens County and was the eighth of eleven children. His work history included: oil field, Cotton Gin Equipment Co., Lone Star Gas Company, Lubbock Police Dept., and was acting Postmaster at Denver City, Cleburne, and Irving, and was Postmaster at Azle and Denton.
James married Margaret Ann Britton on June 21, 1957, in Arlington and they began their life together. They lived in many different cities, including Arlington, Dallas and Mesquite, before they moved to Lubbock where they lived until 1981. James and Margaret then moved to Azle, Fort Worth, and Santo before they settled in Weatherford in 1998. James was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Springtown.
James enjoyed sharing his faith with others and living out his faith. He also enjoyed garden and orchard work and counted them as great blessings from God.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Eagle Crest Villa and all of their staff for caring for and loving James, and would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann; and his daughter, Sandra.
Survivors: daughters, Alice Darlene Gill and husband, Peyton, and Cathy Lynn Henderson and husband, Sam, both of Lubbock, Margaret Angelene Talmage and husband, Art, of Azle, and Rebekah Jerene Mobley and husband, Kinney, of Rochester; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and many other loving family members and friends.
