James Marshall "Jimmy" Pope, III, 79, beloved brother, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at home.Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Saturday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.Interment: Oakland Cemetery, Weatherford.Visitation: 9 - 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in Jim's memory to the Pythian Home, 1825 E. Bankhead Dr., Weatherford.Jim was born October 1, 1937 in Mineral Wells, son of James Marshall Pope, II and Genoma Crawford Pope. He graduated from high school in St. Louis, Missouri and from North Texas State University where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. Jim proudly and honorably served in the United States Air Force achieving the rank of Captain. Following his military service he worked as a manager for Williamson-Dickie. Jim later returned to Weatherford where he founded Quickprint of Weatherford, working in that business until he retired.Jim was a charter life member of The Academy of Model Aeronautics, as well as past President of both the Rotary Club and the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce. He was an avid racing fan, owning a Sprint car, and was also a sailing enthusiast.Jim was preceded in death by his parents.Survivors: Sister, Patti Pope Ham; nephew, Eric Ham and wife, Jennifer; nieces, Tracy Schmidt and husband, Randy, and Lesley Kummer and husband, Tim; five great-nephews; three great-nieces; special friend, Pam Woods; and cousin, Kay White Vincent.
