James Earl Jeffreys, 96, a resident of Springtown, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 21, 2025.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2025 at White’s Funeral Home Chapel in Springtown, Tx.
Interment: 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 2, 2025 at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, TX., with full military honors.
James was born in Colbert County, Alabama to Austin and Effie Jeffreys, on October 19, 1928. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951, and was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base for many years. He was also stationed in Germany for 4 years, then went to Maine and Utah, as well as many overseas trips. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1968. He received many awards while serving in the Air Force, including two Bronze Stars, the Air Force Longevity Award, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Occupation Medal with Germany, two Vietnam Service Medals and a medal from the Republic of the Vietnam Campaign.
He retired from the Air Force in 1971 and attended Tarrant County College to become a HVAC technician. He worked for Amana Refrigeration and then with Dykes AC Service.
James loved to tinker and build things. He loved planting and working his garden and fishing in his ponds. He loved to share the vegetables from his garden with family and friends. James loved his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids so much. He was very proud and thankful for each of them. James was the type of person to help and share with anybody that needed help.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vernell (Harrison) Jeffreys; his parents; eight brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Johnson and husband, Frankie of Horatio, AR. Jimmie Nell Helms and husband, Dwight of Texarkana, AR. and Charlotte Porter and husband, Buddy of Springtown, TX.; grandsons, James Helms of Texarkana, AR., Kenny Porter and wife, Jennifer of Lago Vista, TX., Chad Helms of Fouke, AR.; granddaughters, Shelley Porter of Lake Worth, TX. and Dr. Lindsey Porter of Grand Prairie, TX.; great-grandsons, Landon and Aidon Porter of Lago Vista, TX., Peyton and Brody Helms, and Tyler Helms and wife, Josie of Fouke, AR., great-granddaughters, Breana Pogue and husband, Anthony of Texarkana, AR., Callie Helms of Belton, TX. and Juliana McKinney of Lake Worth, TX.; and his sister, Edith Jezek of Tuscumbia, AL.; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
